今回は、あらゆる製品・技術を「載せる つなぐ つくる そして、ひろげる」をテーマに電子回路総合展として周辺境界領域とコラボを展開するため、当工業会と電線新聞（㈱工業通信）との共催にて電線／ケーブル・コネクタ・周辺機器の日本唯一の展示会「WIRE Japan Show2014」を新設・同時開催した。
また本年度は、「日本をもっと元気にする！」を合言葉に、日本のものつくりはどう在るべきか、「自動車」、「医療・ヘルスケア」、「ビッグデータ」「ウェアラブル」等について電子回路・実装技術に期待されるトレンドとは何か、今後の半導体パッケージング技術はどこへ向かうのかについて基調講演・展示を実施。基調講演では、各界の有識者を招き、現在最も注目を集めるテーマとして、初日に医療・ヘルスケアと3D プリンタ、2 日目に自動車と新エネルギー、省エネ半導体及び一般社団法人カメラ映像機器工業会（CIPA）より特別協力頂いた国内デジカメ大手メーカ第一線開発者が登壇したパネルディスカッション、3 日目に情報／通信とウェアラブルエレクトロニクス、3D プリンタの講演を実施。
特別展示では、毎年大好評頂いている電子機器分解展示にて、「ウェアラブルエレクトロニクス」「自動車」「4K テレビ」「スマホ（中国の新興スマホメーカ等）」等の最新機器を展示。日本の最先端技術を実際に生で見られる機会とし、ベテラン技術者だけでなく、若手社員の勉強の一環としてご覧頂いた。
